SEVEN KILLED AS GUNMEN RAID TARABA COMMUNITY, POLICE OFFICERS AMONG VICTIMS

At least seven people have been confirmed dead following a deadly attack on Tor-Damisa community in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State on Wednesday evening.The assailants, suspected to be armed Fulani herdsmen, reportedly invaded the community and opened fire sporadically on residents, causing panic and forcing many to flee for safety.Security operatives from the Taraba State Police Command were said to have responded swiftly to the attack, engaging the gunmen in a fierce exchange of gunfire. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of three police officers and four civilians.Eyewitness accounts indicated that the attackers operated for some time before being confronted by security forces. The violence has since triggered fear and tension in the community, with several residents reportedly abandoning their homes and relocating to neighbouring areas.Attempts by reporters to obtain an official response from the Taraba State Police Command were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer did not respond to calls or messages at the time of filing this report.The incident adds to growing security concerns in parts of Taraba State, where rural communities have continued to experience sporadic attacks in recent times.
