NIGERIAN SOLDIERS RELEASED BY BURKINA FASO ARRIVE IN GHANA

Nigerian Air Force personnel who were detained in Burkina Faso have now safely arrived in Ghana following the resolution of a diplomatic misunderstanding triggered by an unscheduled military aircraft landing.

The troops, travelling aboard a Nigerian Air Force C-130 transport aircraft, were en route to Portugal for scheduled training and maintenance operations when the flight was forced to divert and land in Burkina Faso earlier in the week.

The diversion caused a diplomatic dispute that led to the temporary detention of the crew. Burkinabé authorities had earlier raised concerns over the aircraft’s status and demanded clarification before granting clearance to proceed.

However, through diplomatic engagement led by Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities, the matter was resolved and the soldiers were released.

The aircraft continued its journey and made a safe stop in Ghana, where the personnel have undergone military checks and routine clearance before proceeding with the mission.

More updates are expected as the aircraft continues towards Portugal.
