LAURENT VINATIER: RUSSIA MAKES “PROPOSAL” TO FRANCE, FAMILY SEES POSSIBLE PRISONER EXCHANGE

Laurent Vinatier’s family says the jailed French researcher is a victim of geopolitical tensions between Russia and France over the Ukraine war.
Russia confirmed issuing a “proposal” to France regarding Vinatier, who is currently serving a 3-year prison sentence under Russia’s foreign agent law, and is now facing espionage allegations that could lead to 20 years in prison.
The French presidency says the detention is arbitrary, while President Putin has promised to review the matter if Russian law permits.
Family lawyer Frédéric Belot confirmed a possible prisoner exchange but urged prudence. Vinatier’s mother says her son remains resilient despite being treated as a bargaining chip.
