IPOB CONDEMNS TERRORISM SPONSORS LIST, DESCRIBES IT AS “STATE-SPONSORED DECEPTION”
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly criticized the Nigerian government’s recently released list of individuals and entities allegedly linked to terrorism financing, describing it as misleading and politically motivated.
In a statement issued following the release, IPOB rejected the credibility of the list, arguing that it lacks transparency and appears targeted. The group labeled the move as “state-sponsored deception,” alleging that it is part of a broader attempt to mislead the public and suppress dissenting voices.
According to IPOB, the inclusion of certain names raises concerns about due process and fairness, calling on authorities to provide clear evidence and follow legal procedures in identifying and prosecuting terrorism financiers.
The Nigerian government had earlier published the list through relevant security and financial intelligence agencies as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism financing and strengthen national security.
Authorities maintain that the action is necessary to disrupt funding networks linked to insurgency and other violent activities across the country. The development has sparked reactions from various stakeholders, with some calling for greater transparency and accountability in the compilation of such sensitive lists.
