INEC HAS DECLARED PDP WINNER OF GWAGWALADA AREA COUNCIL ELECTION

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).The election was conducted on Saturday, February 21, 2026, as part of the wider FCT Area Council polls held across the six councils — Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali.INEC announced the result at the Gwagwalada collation centre after the collation of votes from all polling units. According to the commission, the PDP candidate secured the highest number of valid votes, defeating candidates from other political parties who contested the election.The FCT Area Council elections have been described by some party agents as largely transparent, and the results reflect the competitive political landscape of the Federal Capital Territory.Further details, including full vote breakdowns and the number of accredited voters, are expected from INEC in the coming days.
