FORMER UKRAINE ENERGY HEAD HELD AMID ALLEGED $100M MONEY-LAUNDERING SCANDAL
Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has arrested former Energy Minister, German Galushchenko, while he attempted to cross the state border. The arrest is part of the “Midas” investigation, an alleged $100 million money-laundering scheme in the country’s energy sector.Galushchenko, who resigned in November 2025, is accused of assisting businessman Timur Mindich in managing illicit financial flows. Contractors working with Energoatom were reportedly coerced into paying bribes of 10–15% to maintain contracts and avoid payment delays.The NABU confirmed that investigative proceedings are ongoing under proper legal protocols. The case highlights Ukraine’s continued efforts to tackle corruption among high-ranking officials in critical sectors.
