FG FACES 24-HOUR ULTIMATUM TO CLEAR WORKERS’ WAGE ARREARS

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other organised labour unions have issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government to settle outstanding wage arrears owed to federal workers across ministries, departments, and agencies. The demand, issued through the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (Trade Union Side), covers three months of unpaid wage awards, promotion arrears, and allowances linked to the ₦70,000 minimum wage implementation.Labour leaders warned that failure to release the funds by Friday, February 27, 2026, may result in decisive industrial action nationwide.Union officials say the delays, which date back to July 2024, have placed severe financial strain on workers amid rising living costs.More updates are expected as the deadline approaches.
