DANGOTE INTENTIONALLY TARGETING FUEL IMPORT DEPENDENCE, FACES STIFF RESISTANCE — CONSULTANT

In an Arise News interview (Dec 21, 2025), Kunle explained that entrenched cartels continue to oppose the Dangote Refinery’s operations, even monitoring activities from neighbouring countries, contributing to reported operational challenges and an estimated ₦1.4 trillion loss over 18 months.
Kunle linked recent regulatory changes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to break entrenched patronage in the oil sector. He said the Dangote Refinery represents a rare opportunity to stabilise Nigeria’s fuel supply, strengthen the naira, and dismantle a long-standing import-based regime.
