ATIKU WILL DOMINATE ADC PRIMARIES IF HE CONTESTS — ARDO DECLARES

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected to emerge victorious if he contests the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, according to Umar Ardo, Convener of the League of Northern Democrats.

Ardo made this assertion during an appearance on AIT’s Focus Nigeria, where he discussed possible outcomes of the party’s primary process and the likelihood of a consensus arrangement among major contenders.

He explained that if the ADC decides to adopt a consensus candidate, leading aspirants such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi would have to step aside for one individual to emerge.

However, he expressed doubt that such an arrangement would materialize.Ardo further argued that while some candidates might be open to stepping down, their respective support bases would resist such decisions.

He specifically noted that Peter Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the “Obidient Movement,” may strongly oppose any withdrawal, while Atiku himself is unlikely to step down despite potential flexibility from his base.He concluded that in the event of a competitive primary—whether through delegates or direct voting—Atiku Abubakar would secure a decisive victory, even if the process were repeated multiple times.
