ANTHONY JOSHUA COULD LOSE OVER $60 MILLION TO US AND UK TAXES AFTER JAKE PAUL FIGHT

British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua may take home significantly less than expected from his blockbuster fight against Jake Paul, despite securing a dominant knockout victory in Miami.
Reports indicate that Joshua earned an estimated $140 million from the highly publicised bout. However, due to tax obligations in both the United States and the United Kingdom, the former world champion could forfeit more than $60 million of that figure.
Because the fight took place in Miami, Joshua is subject to U.S. federal income tax on earnings generated from the event. In addition, as a UK resident, he is also liable to British income tax, which could significantly reduce his final take-home pay.
Financial analysts estimate that after deductions, Joshua may retain less than half of the total purse — a scenario that could see him earn less than his defeated opponent, Jake Paul, who may benefit from different tax structures and residency considerations.
The situation has once again highlighted the complex tax realities faced by elite athletes competing internationally, particularly in high-value pay-per-view events staged in the United States.
As of now, neither Joshua nor his management team has issued an official statement addressing the tax estimates.
