EL-RUFAI ARRIVES KADUNA COURT, ADDRESSES ADC CONVENTION ISSUES

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday appeared before the Kaduna High Court as part of ongoing legal proceedings instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

The former governor is currently facing charges linked to alleged financial misconduct during his time in office. The case is part of wider anti-corruption efforts aimed at addressing issues of public accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s governance system.

Upon arrival at the court premises, El-Rufai interacted briefly with journalists, where he also spoke on internal developments within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His remarks come amid growing political activity and alignments ahead of future electoral processes in the country.

Legal observers note that the case has attracted significant public interest due to El-Rufai’s influence in Nigerian politics and his recent political engagements. Proceedings are expected to continue as the court reviews submissions from both the prosecution and defense.

The ICPC has maintained that its actions are in line with its mandate to investigate and prosecute corruption-related offences, while the defense is expected to challenge the allegations as the trial progresses.Further updates are anticipated as the case unfolds in court.
