TERRORISTS KILL 5 FOREST GUARDS IN NŪKU COMMUNITY, KWARA STATE
Terrorists have reportedly killed five Forest Guards in a fresh attack on Nuku community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria.
According to reports, the attackers invaded the area in the early hours of Friday, targeting a Forest Guards base positioned at the entry point of the community.
The assault reportedly followed a warning, as the attackers had earlier sent a voice note indicating plans to attack the location.During the invasion, a fierce gun battle broke out between the terrorists and the Forest Guards. Five guards were killed, while security forces also reportedly neutralized some of the attackers.
The attackers were said to have come in large numbers and operated for about an hour before withdrawing from the area. Security operatives later moved into the community to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
The incident has heightened tension in Kaiama LGA, which has witnessed repeated security challenges in recent times, especially in rural forest-border communities.Authorities are expected to continue clearance operations in the area as investigations into the attack continue.
