NAFDAC BANS INDOMIE NOODLES VEGETABLE FLAVOUR OVER UNDECLARED ALLERGENS RISK
The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has officially banned the Indomie brand Noodles Vegetable Flavour product due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which pose a serious health threat to allergic consumers.
In a statement issued on Friday and reported by TVC News, NAFDAC confirmed that the recall was initiated after the French authority, Rappel Conso, raised an alert regarding the product’s composition.
According to NAFDAC’s publication titled “Public Alert No. 041/2025”, the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles were found to contain ingredients not listed on their packaging, violating international safety and labelling standards.
PRODUCT DETAILS CONFIRMED FOR RECALL:
Brand: Indomie
Product: Noodles Vegetable Flavour
Batch: All lots affected
Best before date: 06/02/2026
Origin: Not stated
NAFDAC explained that, although Nigeria has an existing government ban on noodle importation, vigilance is required to prevent the recalled product from illegally entering Nigerian markets.
The agency stated that it has deployed surveillance teams nationwide, instructing zonal offices to monitor markets and seize any of the affected Indomie Vegetable Flavour products found in circulation.
Distributors, shop owners, and consumers have been urged to avoid sale or consumption of the recalled noodles and report suspicious stock to the nearest NAFDAC office. Consumers experiencing side effects linked to the noodles are also advised to report via NAFDAC’s online platforms or contact centre.
Further updates are expected as enforcement continues.
