AKPABIO BACKS DEATH PENALTY FOR KIDNAPPERS, PRAISES TINUBU’S RESCUE EFFORTS, VOWS MASSIVE SUPPORT FOR 2027

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has publicly expressed strong support for the introduction of the death penalty for kidnappers across Nigeria, as growing security concerns continue to dominate national debate.

Akpabio praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recent nationwide kidnap-rescue breakthroughs, describing them as evidence that the administration is capable of dismantling criminal networks.

Speaking to reporters, the Senate President stressed that kidnapping has ruined businesses, separated families and cost thousands of lives, adding that capital punishment may be the only realistic deterrent.

Akpabio also pledged total political support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that multiple voting blocs across the country would back Tinubu due to his record on security, infrastructure and economic reforms.

He urged state governments and security agencies to intensify operations against kidnap gangs, saying the country can no longer tolerate such criminality.

Public reactions are expected from human rights groups, lawmakers and civil society following Akpabio’s death-penalty proposal.
