Robert Mueller, the former U.S. Special Counsel who led the high-profile investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, has died at the age of 81.
Muellerβs death was confirmed on Friday, March 21, 2026. He was widely recognized for his decades-long career in public service, including his tenure as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 2001 to 2013.
