ABIA GOVT BLASTS ENYIMBA ECONOMIC CITY PROMOTERS OVER ‘MISLEADING’ ARBITRATION REPORT

The Abia State Government has accused promoters of the Enyimba Economic City of circulating misleading claims about the outcome of a recent arbitral ruling involving the multi-billion-dollar development project. In a statement released by the state government, officials said reports suggesting that the arbitration tribunal ruled against the government were inaccurate and misrepresented the actual legal outcome.According to the government, the dispute originates from a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement signed in 2017 for the development of the Enyimba Economic City, a large industrial and commercial hub planned to boost economic growth in Abia State and the South-East region. The disagreement between the parties later escalated into arbitration proceedings in March 2024, with the tribunal delivering its decision on February 13, 2026.State authorities insist that interpretations of the ruling being circulated by some promoters do not reflect the tribunal’s full findings, adding that the government remains committed to protecting public interest and ensuring accountability in the project. The dispute has now sparked renewed debate about the future of the economic zone project, as investors and stakeholders await further clarification on the implications of the tribunal’s decision.
