THUGS ATTACK & STRIP DON PEDRO OBASEKI NAKED IN BENIN CITY

Don Pedro Obaseki, the Chief Executive Officer of Hosamudia Farm, was reportedly assaulted and stripped naked by suspected thugs on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State.The incident occurred at Uwa Primary School, where Obaseki had gone to play football. A viral video circulating online shows the moment he was attacked, physically assaulted, and later dragged to the Oba’s Palace gate.The attackers reportedly presented him to palace guards, describing him as an “Oghion (enemy of Oba).”Palace chiefs, speaking in the Bini language, were heard warning the assailants not to disrupt activities, as the Oba was on his way to the Holy Arousa Cathedral for a thanksgiving service marking the end of the Igue Festival.One chief was quoted in the video saying:“Today is thanksgiving day at the Holy Arousa. We don’t want any trouble…”Despite resistance from the attackers, the chiefs eventually took Obaseki into the palace to ensure his safety.Former Governor Godwin Obaseki, in a public statement, strongly condemned the attack on his cousin, referring to him as Dr. Pedro Obaseki, a former Managing Director of DAAR Communications and a renowned journalist.Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the situation has been brought under control. She also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has met with the parties involved and a full investigation is underway.The former Governor also urged human rights organisations and civil society groups to speak out against the violation, warning that lawlessness by non-state actors could lead to anarchy.
