TURKEY ARRESTS 115 SUSPECTED ISIS MEMBERS ALLEGEDLY PLANNING CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR ATTACKS

In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Turkish authorities have detained 115 individuals suspected of membership in the Islamic State (IS) militant group, officials say. The suspects were allegedly preparing attacks aimed at Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations across Turkey.

According to the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office, police conducted raids on 124 locations in and around Istanbul, capturing the bulk of the suspects and seizing firearms and ammunition linked to the alleged plot.

Istanbul police stated that the suspects were believed to be planning attacks against various targets during the holiday period, with gatherings and festivities seen as potential targets.

The operation was based on intelligence indicating that IS operatives were coordinating plans to carry out violence during the Christmas and New Year period, prompting swift law enforcement action.

This is part of ongoing efforts by Turkish security forces to prevent extremist attacks within the country and disrupt terror networks.
