11 DEAD, 9 INJURED IN CHRISTMAS DAY AUTO CRASH IN JIGAWA

Jigawa State has been rocked by a deadly automobile accident on December 25, 2025, when a passenger vehicle travelling through Beguwa village reportedly suffered a tyre burst, leading to a catastrophic crash that has claimed 11 lives and injured at least 9 others.
The incident took place along the Ringim–Sankara–Beguwa Road in Ringim Local Government Area, an expressway that sees heavy festive travel traffic. According to confirmed reports from authorities, the vehicle was carrying 23 passengers — seven males and sixteen females — at the time of the accident.
What Happened
Police and emergency responders say the vehicle experienced a tyre blowout while in motion. The sudden loss of tyre integrity reportedly caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the serious collision. Early investigations also suggest that speed may have been a contributing factor in the severity of the crash.
Casualties and Response
The deceased — consisting of five males and six females — were pronounced dead at the scene or shortly after arrival at Ringim General Hospital, where survivors continue to receive urgent medical care.
Rescue teams and health officials are working to stabilise the injured, while law enforcement has issued a call for heightened vigilance and strict compliance with road safety regulations, especially during the Christmas holiday period when vehicular movement increases sharply.
Appeals from Authorities
The police have urged motorists to observe all traffic laws, reduce speed, and maintain their vehicles properly to help prevent such tragedies. Road safety advocates have also reiterated the need for regular vehicle maintenance and tire checks, particularly for long-distance travel during peak holiday seasons.
The Jigawa auto crash is a grim reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and poor road conditions — and the urgent need for strengthened safety enforcement nationwide
